Dr. Erica Plimpton DNP, FNP-BC began her career caring for people living with HIV in 2006 at the Whitman Walker Clinic in Washington, DC where she was the clinical trials research nurse coordinator overseeing 13 HIV-related clinical drug trials. She went on to co-found the medical adherence department at the Whitman Walker Clinic in 2008 during the early days of the HIV Care Continuum model. Dr. Plimpton continued her career in HIV care as a clinical research nurse and clinical nurse case manager at both Children’s Hospital Colorado and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center’s infectious disease program, caring for people living with HIV across the age spectrum. In 2016, Dr. Plimpton began her doctoral nursing program at Baylor University achieving her doctorate in nursing practice as a family nurse practitioner, focusing both her clinical training and doctoral project on the care of people living with HIV. She joined the infectious disease department at the Dallas VA Medical Center in February 2020 as an HIV clinical coordinator where she currently cares for Veteran’s living with HIV in their expanded telehealth clinic.
